We answer from evidence, across six fields:

Archaeological: pre-empire ruins, including structures in unstable space.

Genetic: the shared human genome beneath the four empires.

Linguistic: the common root under their languages.

Technological: hardware from civilizations that are gone, withdrawn, or returned.

Cybernetic: machine intelligence and the data it retains.

We survey, recover, and haul to gather it, often in low-sec and beyond. The Sisters of EVE and the Society of Conscious Thought work the same question.
