Exploration is NOT a get rich scheme. People brag about the single 150m box they found because it's the exception not the rule. You will be disappointed if you expect every can to make you rich.

Exploration IS frustrating, a grind, tedious, and dangerous like every other activity in Eve. But if you enjoy it, then you'll make good money and have a lot of fun.

Tips
1) Wormholes are -1.0 space. You'll die a lot, get used to that. Fly cheap ships and you'll make more than you lose.

2) Bookmark EVERYTHING. If you DC, your scans disappear and you have to scan everything again. Bookmark the outside of the wormhole, then when you go through, approach the wormhole and wait til you get to 0m. Then bookmark that spot. Bookmarking at 5-7km away means you have to burn to enter it. If someone's chasing you, that will be when they catch you.

3) Don't scan at the wormhole or any of the warpable targets in the system. This makes it easy to find you with Dscan. You'll never even see them coming.

4) Set a safe spot. Warp to the furthest moon. As soon as you start warping, hit Ctrl-B. When you're halfway to the moon, hit Enter to set the bookmark. Warp back to this bookmark and do your scanning here.

5) If Data/Relic sites say "Forgotten" or "Unsecured" they have sleepers at them. Tough sleepers. They will kill you. If they say "Guristas", "Sansha", or any other pirate faction they won't have any NPCs at all and are safe to loot. UNLESS the site also has "Covert" in its name. These are sneaky sites because they won't have sleepers at first. After a box or two, sleepers show up and then the whole site explodes, destroying your ship. You MIGHT get to hack one or two cans but it's risky. If you fail a hack at all, it explodes and you die.

6) USE YOUR SAFE SPOT: The only way anyone can find your safe spot is by combat scanning you while you're there. DSCAN shows combat probes and lets you get out.


7) Get in and get out. Don't sit around letting them find you. They will warp to you and set up to kill you.
