When an infant, Richard Talvanein's parents, Julian and Julia, crashed while exploring deep space. Why they had their infant son with them is anyone's guess, probably bad parenting skills (they didn't have the skill book). Raised on a planet of hermit sized talking crabs since the age of 6 months, Richard only knew how to walk "crab-style" for the first 21 years of his life. Found by a team of archeologists, it took multiple more years of rehabilitation for Richard to be a functional human being.

Fun fact: While in rehab, one of the cooks mistook Richard for a giant crab and tried to boil him alive and feed him to the rehabilitation president.
