Bio
"Youth ages, immaturity is outgrown, ignorance can be educated, and drunkenness sobered, but stupid lasts forever." — Aristophanes
_______
There she stood, marveling at the world before her; its beauty, its ugliness, its good and bad. A world she governed for the betterment of all.
I stood by her faithfully, doing my best to help her feel at ease and okay with the hard choices she had to make.
And at times questioned decisions she made. But I could see it happening as it wore her down, hardening her -- changing her into something she never was.
I pleaded with her to step down, that it wasn't a challenge to overcome, something to just push through until it gets better.
Because it won't get better.
It only gets harder.
She just smiled and kissed me the way she always did, the way that made my heart flutter. She comforted me in my worries yet did little to dissuade them.
I never questioned her skill, her intelligence or her resolve.
I questioned her immortality, for this she is not.
Now I think back upon those moments with fondness and sadness, as I look to the skies to see jagged edges and shadows new, that descended upon our world raining down beams of light carving our cities to molten death.
Moments before the invading capital ship had set its sight on our tower and a bright light ended it all.
