Drake was once the aloof leader of AESOC, the Ancient Earth Society and is a bit of an anomaly. It is said he had been looking to team up with newly minted capsleers to hunt for Ancient Earth.

People who had served with him note that he places zero importance on micromanaging ship builds. A free spirit, he asked that those who join his band fly for their enjoyment and for "The Cause", finding Terra Antiqua. He didn't require heroes or galactic gladiators and he didn't care if his people flew an Ibis or a Titan. He cared only about loyalty. Loyalty given is loyalty earned.

But something came across him, a dark brooding umbra that seemed to overshadow his commitment to the cause. His sojurn deeper and deeper into space became longer and longer and he came to forget his responsibilities to The Anciet Earth Society. Eventually he disbanded the group albeit reluctantly and now roams the galaxy with those common crew members that remain with him so long as he can afford to man ships.
