Eve space as I have come to understand it.
High Sec: This is your average neighborhood. Yes, there is crime in it and there are some pretty shady individuals. But for the most part it is full of people who don't acknowledge your existence while they do their daily thing to survive.

Low Sec: This is the ghetto. The part of town that is so bad that even the cops won't show up anymore.

Null Sec: The upscale area, the part of town inhabited by the "haves" and you don't spend any respectable amount of time in it unless you are invited to.

Wormhole: This is the boondocks. The place way out in the sticks where the clannish folk live. Be prepared to hear "You ain't from 'round here and we don't cotton to you bein' here.."
