Rey was once a successful industrialist in New Eden. He worked relentlessly to achieve his goals to make a lot of wealth. A feat that he managed to do all alone. He wasn't hesitant to take any risks and tried a lot of things, sometimes even juggling several jobs at the same time. This eventually led to him being very succesful but he couldn't stop. Like all industrialists he kept working even though his goal was achieved. And this led to his fall. The pressure and lack of time got to him and he finally left everything, everything he worked so much for. He went into living as a hermit never wandering out into the depths of New Eden again.

That was until Peder Bastanold found him years later. Peder showed interest in the ways of New Eden and wanted Rey, who had the experience, to help him. During this exchange, Rey realised what he was missing and therefore went out once again to face and conquer New Eden.

Today, he is part of the Bastanold family.
