Alabath Schmidt

Alabath's life hadn't been one of high excitement. Day in, she worked as the head of R&D at a small nullsec station. Day out, she returned to a husband who loved with a heart of metal. While she hoped for change, she did nothing. Perhaps she liked the routine. The tick tick of the clock and the ch-ch of machinery continued regardless.

One day, they didn't. The station blew. Her escape pod was damaged. One delayed comm signal reached her husband: "Charles, I'm not ready to die."

An independent group of slavers found her and packed her away in a stasis unit. The silence was a gift. She took comfort in it for the rest of her life.

The stasis unit, like the escape pod before it, had been damaged. She remained trapped as the unit failed. Alabath was dead for seventy seconds, but it was enough; the complacent woman was gone. In her place was a woman who destroyed clocks that ticked and dismantled machines that ch'ed, and she returned to a universe that thrived on them.
