Guidelines for the Employment of the Armoured Kampfgruppe
What is the battle group capable of accomplishing? Mission: Employing the principles of manoeuvre warfare, it can eliminate an enemy force that that has broken through by means of an immediate or deliberate counterattack, that is, a mounted attack with a local objective.
The strengths of the armoured battle group lie in its mobility, its firepower and its armoured protection. The paramount prerequisite for success is an attack conducted by surprise and in mass by the entire battle group. The Panzer zug must always move out en masse to provide shock; the SPW’s need to follow closely behind. (Fighting must be conducted mounted).
Where is the armoured battle group not suited for employment? The armoured battle group must not be split up or in smaller elements. Its strength is based on the massing of its firepower. Organisation and training correspond to this requirement.
