Origanally a clone vat overseer, Goober Xenix was convicted after stopping a Serpentis plot to kill a Capsuleer. Despite his innocence, he was sentenced to a short service aboard a Capsuleer ship in a section without escape pods. Aware of Capsuleer's general disregard for their crew's lives, as well the likelyhood of getting to an escape pod, he spent his life savings on an implant DUST soldiers use to become "immortal". When the expected moment came, he ensured his fellow crew members could escape while he remained behind when the ship was destroyed by Serpentis pirates.

After transferring to a clone, thus becoming a Capsuleer himself, he decided to take up the lifestyle. He opted to ensure every ship has escape pods on all sections, and ensures any deaths are compensated.

He has engaged in experimental cloning techniques, creating independant copies of himself for various reasons:
