I'm a proud member of EVE University, and I strongly recommend it to any new or returning player. Their Wiki is the gold standard for information about EVE:

CCP is running a recruitment campaign that gives away free skill points (once per account only) if you follow a recruiter's link and sign up. Choose 'Already Have An Account' at the bottom of the list of options, and get 1 million free skill points. It works for Alphas as well as Omegas.
Oddly enough, it's NOT a scam. You get a hefty chunk of SP, and the recruiter (whose link you followed) gets some rewards for 'recruiting' you. If you stay in the game, upgrade to Omega, etc, the recruiter gets more rewards - ship skins, boosters, skill points, Omega time and so on. The more recruits who sign up and stay active in game, the better the rewards are for the recruiter.
