Learn to Play Eve!
1. Never fly what you can not afford to lose particularly in dangerous areas.
2. Just because you CAN get into a ship does not mean you have all the skills to fly it competently.
3. Unlike some MMOs, there are no boundries to keep you out of some areas. However, your enjoyment may be affected by your ability to be useful. Research areas!
4. Eve is a rich and complex game and requires a lot of reading. Read any wiki, article, and guide you can find.
5. Eve is not for everyone. If you lack patience, want to be top level in a week, the thought of losing stuff unexpectedly makes you rage, or need to be held by the hand to make decisions on what to do, you will hate Eve. World of Warcraft or similar theme park MMOs are probably better for you.
6. If you are stuck doing nothing but mining and are not in a player corporation for your first character, you will probably quit.
7. Update your clone! Unscrew your overview! Learn D Scan! Use safe spots!
