I was born a human on lands far beyond the veil of New Eden's borders, a speck of life in the sea of black we knew as Atreia. I was twenty five when the Balour came to us then, enslaving or destroying so much of the world. I was chosen by the Empyrean Lords as one of our people to be given the gift of Ascension, forever changing as I became one of the legendary Daeva, protectors of the world and the Empyrean Lords. The battle with the Balour went on for centuries.

They finally broke our world's spirit, in literal meaning. With the Tower of Eternity shattered, the planet began to crumble. A great rift opened up, circling the globe. When it was done, the Balour were gone, as were most hopes of sustaining life on Atreia. But for the first time, we could see the stars, see that we were not alone. Atreia, I have since learned, was a Dyson Sphere.

With our planet dying, we set out for the stars. We found New Eden.
