Za and her other orphaned siblings were adopted by a wealthy Gallente shipping magnate, Robert L. Oom. The Ooms occupied a large estate and the children, Ka, Va, Za, Da, and Bada were raised under the care of a mother who delighted in literary whimsy. Unlike their playful monikers, the children all adopted the social traits of their father, whose straight-forward approach to life was in stark contrast to that of their mother. Irrespective of the differences in their birthplaces, as adults, the children have all adopted the Gallentian culture as their own. We.Say.So, is an extended family holding company formed by her older cousins, Zefeira and Trelliisa; who were also adopted, but by her mother's brother, an eccentric miner who married late in life. Growing up, Za spent a lot of time with her cousins' family and loved to listen to the stories about mining her uncle would tell. It is little wonder that she nows finds herself out in the asteroid fields.
