Bio
Marcellus Ceres was the last patriarch of the Ceres legacy. He owned every land and every assets of the family, in particular, the Ceres Mining Industry. Marcellus was a cold man obsessed only by money, power and the well being of the family's assets.
There was a lot of slaves working at different levels of the mining industry wich Marcellus treated very badly. As a religious man, he believed that the road to Paradise was through a lot of hardship and suffering. Things were running pretty smoothly until financial difficulties hit the family corporation. Then, everything went south.
Operation prices went up and selling prices went down. Marcellus made a lot of cuts, mainly in services for the slaves in order to ''keep the boat afloat''. But that wasn't enough. He had to borrow money from anyone able to help. Sadly, although a good number of investors seemed able to lend the needed money, nobody seemed to be willing to. There was not very much options left.
Over his years of business managing and territory protecting, Marcellus had to make quite a lot of deals with the Blood Raiders whose territories were adjacent to his own; nothing out of the ordinary pact of non agression and likes. Reluctantly, Marcellus used the only card left in his hand and asked them to lend him some money. Surprisignly, the Raiders accepted without hesitation in exchange of pretty reasonable conditions. Regrettably, this unsuspected twig of hope would not prevent the Ceres family to plunge into the chasm.
Having their quality of life so degraded by the too many cuts made, the slaves revolted. Escapes, sabotage, thefts and revolts, it was chaos. Even though he had the money lended by the Blood Raiders, Marcellus Ceres was forced to declare bankruptcy.
The Amarian authorities investigated the affair and discovered Marcellus's ties with the Blood Raiders. They marked him as a pirate sympathizer, revocked the Ceres rights of nobility and disowned the entire family.
Marcellus was a broken man. All the family's possessions where auctionned, his wife fled to ensure that her family would not be soiled by his mistake, Red, his only daughter, became insane with grief and the Ceres family was disintegrating. When agents of the Blood Raiders came to collect on their loan, Marcellus had nothing left. The long hours they took to tortured him in order to be made an example seemed trivial to Marcellus compared to the monumental failiure of his life and he smiled. He smiled, knowing that he was on his way to Paradise.
The agents left the broken body on Marcellus Ceres floating in space.
The Ceres Mining Industry was bought by a mysterious investor and is now part of the Blood Raiders Covenant.
