Father, Mother,

I know that I cannot convince you that I still hold the values of my family dear, but perhaps I can make you understand my purpose.

As I said on that day, to exist innocent of bloodshed one must be willing to die or worse at the hands of those who have no such wish. And as our experiences taught us all, we're no safer down there as we would be out here. We must protect ourselves.

I do still believe that to live free of violence is a noble path, but it is no longer one that I can follow as you do. I must survive to serve the purpose I adopted by leaving.

I sacrifice my innocence, so that you and the others need not. To live outside of the embrace of my family is a price I am willing to pay to help ensure that those I love do not become victims.

I will not force you to see me and call me family again, but I hope one day you may understand my actions, and perhaps accept my reasons.

In the meantime, I will watch over you as best I can.
