Bio
I woke up a few weeks ago and asked myself, "How in the galaxy did a hedonist like me end up being a miner?" The answer may surprise you.
I guess it started back at the outpost of Deven V. I was 24 and on top of the world. I owned a "gentlemen's club"... a "strip joint" to you prudes. It was called Dangerous Curves. There comes a time when any man needs a diversion. In the case of my bottom line, that was at the end of their mining contract. My girls and I always made bank after the rock chewers unloaded. Put shortly, business was always booming: hard-up miners more than willing to part with some of their Kredits for a peek at the unbridled paradise of the female form. There were times when one of those prospectors would barter a rare mineral in lieu of ISK, which was fine by me... I've always been a rockhound.
Yup... those were the good days.
One dark morning, from out of nowhere, a fleet of the biggest, most intimidating ships I had ever seen attacked the outpost. In the fray, these thugs tried to have their way with my girls, and I fought them. I was beaten to within an inch of my life. And the girls? Well, I'll just say those pirate animals held my limp body up and made me watch as my employees were violated and brutalized. Nearly half of my staff died that day. Those bastards! I was stabbed by a stinking, unbathed lieutenant as the pirates were leaving. He must have thought it was lethal, because he left me there, without finishing me off. I had a basic medical training and was just able to dress the wound and suture myself, avoiding the death they dispensed on me. The healing took a while, but I recovered and rebuilt. More than I could say for a lot of people there that day.
Things eventually got back to resembling "normal", but I realized that there was the slightest chance that I was in the wrong line of work. I did some soul searching and came to the conclusion that I had never built on my secondary education. I had to call in a favor from an old friend. Well, okay, he was head of admissions at Caille and I threatened to expose the numerous affairs he had with my girls over the years, but my application to the University of Caille was eventually accepted. I had to list my prior business experience as "Human Services". I still laugh at that.
The rest, as they say, is history. Well, actually, history was a very small part of the general education requirement. I ended up with dual degrees in mining technology and industrial engineering. Now I have the sheepskins allowing me to be a professional rockhound.
This brings me to the present day. I am with Starcatcher Mineral, Inc. I used to own a strip club... now I am a strip miner. I am enjoying what I do, and on occasion, a project can be delegated for a couple days, allowing me to hop on over to my old "gentlemen's club" on Deven V and donate some of my Kredits toward the livelihood of my former employees.
If you ever happen to pass through Deven, be sure to visit Dangerous Curves. Say hello to Canis Majoris... I sold him the joint before enrolling at Caille. Let him know The Ph0enix sent you, and he'll treat you right. Oh, and be sure to go on a night when Vixen is performing... hot damn, you'll never forget her!
