"Yes Eve is just a game. It is also a significant
investment of time for those who choose to play
it, and my associates in the game are generally
professionals with careers and families. We play
it for the joy of being part of the incredible
virtual universe here, and for the enjoyment of
building something together (even virtually). Here
there is no accountability- you can be whoever
you want to be.... so here I believe we get to
see who people really want to be, who they are
in their hearts. Many are kind, fair, brave, and
patient. Some, however, are either too
unintelligent or impatient to create anything so
they steal what others have created. They are
so afraid of a fair fight that they gather in
groups of cowards to ensure that they outgun
their innocent victims. At the heart of the
matter, they succumb to the lust for chaos and
destruction- they actually enjoy causing
suffering. This is real suffering- when you lose
something that has taken months to build, you
essentially lose precious discretionary time from
your life, and if you are a busy professional
with a family, this represents a REAL loss.

I'm fairly sure most pirates won't read to this
point because they are stupid and bore easily.
That is a shame... because I actually have
something good to say about them: they make
Eve the great game that it is. They represent
real evil... the rot at the core of humanity, the
weakness of human nature that threatens us as
a species. So I will keep playing Eve... for those
occasional opportunities to fight (even virtually)
everything that is weak, stupid, and destructive
in human nature.... and try to aid and protect
those that value kindness, compassion, and
generosity,"
