Have you ever considered doing gang mining operation... Freelance? No need to join a corporation, no need to be disloyal to your current group, no need to trust a bunch of people you don't know... just good old fashioned honest work for honest pay?
As it happens, that's what I'm all about. I organize unaffiliated miners into gang operations in many timezones at once. I have a great deal of experience in running this sort of operation, and the payout methods are entirely up to the participants. Money, minerals, ore... all entirely doable. You get exactly your share so there's no quibbling about other people benefitting from your labor.
Why would I do this, you probably want to know? Well, partially because I get a huge yield bonus for mining in a team, partially because sitting around in space alone all the time is incredibly boring, and because it's a way to make long term business connections.
