After Douglas' father died and he was left alone with his drug addicted mother, his whole life started on a "failcascade". 15 years old he started stealing coffee from a local store. Some say that was the reason for his "odd behaviour", as they said, since he didn't make coffee, he'd just eat the powder.

When Douglas got his first space vessel (Correction: Stole his first [...]) he started smuggling goods for the drug manufacturers in the area. No one would expect a 18 year old bald kid to be transporting drugs, right? Wrong. He was arrested and beaten up by the local CONCORD batallion.
