Ikhirr

The brutor witch was dismayed by his very name. ' dark omen' she said. But what was in a name, his mother had liked the sound of it Ikhirr.

A black name, the witch had said, the place where there is only death, the scorpion's shadow... how could one little word mean all that?

He gave no credence to the mutterings of shamans and fortune tellers in any case, he was no harbinger of death and doom. He was a simple miner, not even a very good one at that, still not unlucky either. Fools saw their future in the patterns of the stars. Ikhirr saw his in cold hard cash.
