Bio
Asonova Nulen never planned to be a hero. In fact, he didn’t plan to be much of anything beyond a guy who mines rocks and drinks bad coffee. But life, as it tends to do, had other plans. Born and raised on Caldari Prime, Asonova quickly learned that the only way to survive in the crowded, competitive world of the Caldari State was to make money—and the easiest way to do that was to get in on the asteroid-mining game. So, with a sturdy mining laser and a dream, he set off to find his fortune.
The road to wealth, however, wasn’t quite as smooth as Asonova had imagined. Instead of quietly mining away in peace, he found himself recruited into the Caldari Militia after a chance encounter with a pirate who mistook his mining barge for a freighter stuffed with expensive tech. After dispatching the pirate with what he described as “a remarkably well-aimed laser shot” (it was actually a fluke), Asonova was promptly enlisted by the militia—much to his surprise.
Now, Asonova spends his days fighting in the militia and mining the endless asteroid fields of low-sec space, trying to make a living by doing the most unglamorous work imaginable. His combat tactics? Well, let’s just say “hit ‘em with mining lasers” is not exactly standard military procedure, but it gets results… sometimes. When a fight breaks out, Asonova’s usual strategy is to start mining a nearby asteroid while pretending to be a neutral party, and if the fighting comes too close, he’ll just hit the afterburners and get out of there—his barge is slow, but it’s got a warp drive.
When he's not avoiding space battles or extracting valuable ores, Asonova spends his off-hours at the local space station cantina, talking about "the good old days of mining." He’s the kind of guy who will offer you a drink and then proceed to tell you that the best part of being a Caldari Militiaman is "the feeling of suspiciously dodging danger while still getting paid." He once told a fellow pilot that he joined the militia to "get some good equipment," which is code for "I want more mining lasers."
Asonova also has a surprisingly soft spot for salvage and the occasional pirate salvage mission. After all, if you're going to be shooting at things, why not take the opportunity to loot them as well? Whether it’s a wrecked enemy ship or a asteroid, Asonova is happy to salvage whatever he can, because in his mind, there’s no such thing as a “bad” rock to mine—just rocks that need a little encouragement.
