As legendary gigs go - Viziam Arena, Monsters of Mong '37 was the place to be. Not many bands finish their climactic encore by being electrocuted en-mass in front of a live audiance of 50,000 narc-teens.

Yet this is exactly what happened to 4 out of the 5 members who made up famed new wave mong-rock band 'Rectal Prolapse'.

Noone is quite sure what happened - but it would seem that a combination of faulty wiring and a sudden torrential downpour during their set caused, an almighty power surge in the Viziam arena's generator, which in turn found its natural earth in the fleshy bodies of Band mates; 'Mad' Mikey McDowell (drums), Keef Wimblebore (lead guitar) Zeke Strumpet (Flooglehorn) & 'Prick' (Bass guitar).

Lead vocalist Polly Styrene was herself only saved from certain death due to the 6inch high rubber platform boots and pvc body suit she was wearing that night.

Even so, the force of the blast was so powerful. that it sent her flying 30ft through the air and into a lighting gantry - where she suffered serious injuries including a number of broken bones. The same power surge was also responsible for the deaths of 700 of the bands most ardent fans who, being in the mosh pit at the front of the stage at the time the incident occurred were instantly fused together into a mass of charred meat.

That was Two years ago. Polly has recovered from her physcial injuries, but its the mental injuries that bear the deepest scars. Polly Styrene will never, can never perform again - instead she finds solace among the stars - in the inky darkenss of space, where no one can hear her scream.
