Long, long ago, Lana Nelson was a systems analyst aboard a research vessel where she was barely acknowledged by the crew. Awakening one cycle to find they had abandoned her, she managed to befriend the ship AI, AERIS, and devise a method of creating fuel from minerals mined from nearby asteroids, flying home all on her own. The genealogical data of each of the crew members had been stored in case of the development of cloning, which - eventually - worked out.

The original Lana has long since died, but her clone - having her name, appearance, and some of her memories, but none of her skills (yet) - has embarked on a quest to live up to her ancestor by exploring the universe and making a name for herself once again through discovery. She hopes to one day re-access or rebuild the AERIS system.

She enjoys listening to classical electronic music, from Aphex Twin to Bassnectar, and writing journals of her career, starting from the very bottom of the ladder.
