I once met a pilot who collected frozen corpses, he told me he could talk to God through them. I laughed, he laughed,.. a corpse laughed. "See! God speaks through them!" he says, the clear signs of psychosis beginning to show in his eyes.
"No, I'm afraid that's not God. The unfortunate side effect of having a pile of bodies lying about is demons. It attracts them. Do you want demons? Because this is how you get demons." I looked at him without blinking, knowing he could snap at any moment.
His voice was shaking, he was sweating and nearly hysterical "H-h-how do you kn... know it's not GOD! HOW!"
I grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him close, seductively, calmly and whispered in his ear "Because the dead guy stopped laughing. God is always laughing. Always."
And thats when I stabbed him.
It's dangerous out here in the forgotten places, among the relics of long forgotten colonies on long forgotten planets. But I collect sounds, you see. I suppose you could say I am an Audio Archaeologist of sorts. There among the ruins I have found a wealth of secrets buried in old audio files, secrets and ancient truths from the other side of the EVE Gate.
My research has brought much unwanted scrutiny and interest from the Empires, especially that of my own people who are always searching for some "proof" of their devine authority while simultaneously eradicating any evidence to the contrary. Not to mention murdering those who bear the message.
They say I am blasphemous. They say I am a psychopath. I say collecting audio files is less problematic than frozen corpses. Unless you fear the truth.
But I won't stop until I have my answers. And neither will Fargin Whar
