Bio
Salvaging is a nice way to earn some extra cash if you are doing kill missions, or pirate hunting in general. To learn Salvaging you need to train some skills first, Survey to level 3, and Mechanic to level 3. Then you train Salvaging (the book costs 900 000 on market), buy a Salvager I, and fit it to a high power slot on your ship. The total cost is just over 1 million, and the time is 16-20 hours.
To salvage you lock on to a wreck, and then activate the Salvager I if the wreck is within 5000 meters. What you get from salvaging goes automatically into your cargo, and if you find your cargo is full, you can't salvage. If you then have some Metal Scraps in cargo you can safely jettison it, since it takes alot of space and is worth very little.
Don't bother with what you can use the salvage to, just try to get the best price for it. Either go to the station with a good buyer price, or make a sell order.
