Ideals-First Draft

Once humans created the gods
To rule from the skies above
For within our outer facades
We feared what we may think of

These gods have been overthrown
Victims of an enlightened age
And here we are now alone
To face what our minds will wage

So there we now stand
Adrift in the inner sea
Ripped from the chains we demand
Well and truly free

But we still choose our gods
Within our minds they dwell
No matter the outer odds
Our paths they do compel

Introspection reveals
That in the darkness you find
Burns the shining light of our ideals
The gods within our mind
