I ask this question to you, as He does, as I did and do. A soul born into a prison, yet the babe's eyes stare in wonder at the tall walls around it. Drab, featureless, the only world it knows, the sky outside barely visible to its immature self. Older it grows to find itself peeking out, but just as quickly turning away, blinded by the radiance that lay beyond.
It is comfortable to keep from looking, but you and I both know it needs to be done. To not look is to stare into darkness, into the comfortable, familiar emptiness that cradled you all your life. And so, you stare, and you scream, the pain as it sears yours eyes worse than anything you've experienced yet. You weep, desperate to find what is beyond, but you are blind, and your voice reaches nothing.
Well, not nothing.
It reaches me.
And I am here for you, to help you see without pain.
