Born in the wrong side of the tracks, Bob struggled all his life. Whether it was tieing his shoes or spelling his name (he kept adding a Q that he thought was silent), he usually failed. Then he found a magic pencil that allowed him to raise his intelligence by +2.
Now holding his magic pencil, Bob decided to become a pilot. He went into space pilot school brandishing his pencil for all to see. This impressed people from some unknown reasons (they probably feared being stabbed by this lunatic claiming he had a magic pencil). Anyway, through either luck or magic Bob passed pilot school.
Now Bob flies his ship. Mostly he flies to and fro not accomplishing much but somedays he gets blown up. Someday Bob might be good but this remains unlikely. For he lost his magic pencil. He left it on the starter ship when he sold it. He now buys starter ships in hopes to find it but it was prolly crushed when the ship was repackaged.
