Mizahn Zrope's parents were seized on an Amarr slave raid when she was only a child. Her father died in the slave camps, but her mother made contact with a group of rebels who managed to overcome their Amarrian slave drivers and escape in a stolen ship.

Their ship was attacked by pirates and destroyed, but one of the rebels got Mizahn into an escape capsule, and so she survived. Her capsule was picked up by a salvaging team of rogue drones. For some reason they did not kill her, but looked after her. Loot from destroyed ships provided everything Mizahn needed as she was raised in the hive.

When the hive was attacked, the young Mizahn fought alongside her metal companions, but her ship was quickly shot down and she was captured. However, the Republic Fleet commander leading the expedition was so impressed by the fighting abilities of this untrained girl in her ship made from scrap and spare parts that he arranged for her to be sent to the Republic Military School.

Mizahn, however, has never forgiven those who killed her family - both the family of her birth and her adopted family in the hive...
