The Copper Onion is a distinguished institution founded in SY 159 by onion magnate Peter Copper, inventor of the jellied onion and Jita's first onion-frame building.

Although traditionally offering a highly-publicized 0% tax rate to all approved members, the institution announced in SY 209 that it would be transitioning to 5% tax, marketed as "a 95% tax dickscount[sic]".
