Coming to power in 1451, Sultan Mehmed II was the final conquer of Byzantium. His largest goal was to conquer Constantinople and in May 29, 1453, Sultan Mehmed succeeded. With his new power as ruler, Sultan Mehmed II renamed Constantinople to Istanbul, replacing the Christian Byzantine Empire with Islamic Ottoman.
