Robinson’s Rangers was initially formed as a brigade of volunteer militia for the defense of Robinson, the Draconis March capital world, in the days before the collapse of the Star League. The unit was completely annihilated to the last man during a heroic defensive action against Draconis Combine forces during the First Succession War. The valiant actions of this under manned and under equipped militia prevented the Draconis forces from securing a defensible position on the planet before additional Davion loyal units could be brought to bear.

After the Second Sucession War and his elevation to First Prince Peter Davion commissioned two BattleMech regiments, to be named after the original unit to honor the sacrifice made by these volunteers in the defense of their home. The unit was to be financed by the Duchy of Robinson guaranteeing that it would always be tied to the Draconis March and always be available for it’s defense ensuring that the decision to leave worlds to be devesatated by the Draconis Combine would never again need to be made. The Robinson Rangers have fought the Draconis Combine in every major, and nearly every minor, conflict between the the great houses of the Federated Suns and the Draconis Combine since their formation.

Two things define the Rangers: Hatred of the Combine, and more importantly, a loyalty to the Duke of Robinson. The Rangers will never fail to meet an enemy threatening the Draconis March and will gladly fight to the last man again before seeing their lands subjugated.
