If you're in a NPC corp currently, please check the "taxes" they take. It should be around 11% of taxes. That means if you just finished a mission, or even just got a bounty off a RAT. You're paying 11% of your hard work to CCP. Which means you're throwing away 11% of your profit.

The society has 0% tax, up to a max of 5% (We may need SOME funds for medals, new ships, etc. ) - and all this money is going to good proper use, benefiting you and your new corp.
