The name is dedicated to the chimera, a mythical beast and holovatar used by an outcast Matari Mindclash competitor who went on to upset a regional tournament that earned the Syndicate's CEO a tidy sum.

Unlike its cursed nature in mythology books, the Chimera was seen as a source of good luck amongst members of the gang and soon became a symbol that defined their organization. Today, every member is inscribed with a nanotattoo of this monster as part of the initiation process into the group.
