The owner of a barley sucessful tailoring business, Marthens' inherent taste for adventure (and lack of a healthy bottom line) led him into the great expanse in search of his next fortune. He hoped one day to establish an interstellar shipping arm for his already existent planet-side corporation; 'Universal Exports'.
A Master Merchant by trade, Marthen is always on the lookout for a quick ISK, and holds to the proverb that "an empty hold is a wasted trip".
As many ship captains before and after, Marthen took to mining, and frequently found work with Deep Core Mining Inc. After the disaster at the Kaunokka III - Moon I mining facility killed 25 miners on 2009-10-10, there was a public outcry against the Corporation. Marthen and other miners who had previously worked for DCMI, rose up to defend its' good name, and to offer their services in order to supplement the labor force in the wake of the accident.
