Laramy grew up within the Amarr Empire to a fairly well-off family of pure blood Amarrians. After attending Hedion University, Laramy worked aboard scouting frigates gathering intelligence for the Empire. After the death of Jamyl Sarum, Laramy was chosen to become a capsuleer to help deal with the threat to empire space posed by the Drifters. Unfortunately Laramy found himself woefully under-prepared by The Empire's capsuleer training and so enrolled himself in Eve University to hone his skills before returning to service in the Empire.
