In a World so cold
It was cold, it was always so cold. i remember trying so hard to stay warm there. i was only eight years old at the time but i remember it very well. it was the night before our birthday, my twin brother was asleep and snoring quietly the way he did when he was sleeping hard. i don't know why i was awake. thinking back on it, i must have heard a noise outside. i remember a tapping noise, then a shift of weight close by. i watched, as a shadow moved in front of my window. im not sure why but i wasn't afraid. i just layed there watching as the window opened slowly and someone steped into my room, shutting the window behind them. the shadow moved into the darkness of the room and vanished. i could have screamed, i could have ran, i could have felt something. instead, i didn't move, scream, run, or feel anything. after awhile i thought i might have been dreaming and i came close to falling asleep again. this would be a great story if
