Did Knuckles feel the same strange, 'not quite love, but slowly getting there' feelings as he did? Often now, after parting ways after a carnal encounter, Sonic wondered if he'd imagined Knuckles' rough hands lingering on his body a little longer than necessary, imagined those purple eyes of his, locking onto his own emerald ones, for just a few seconds more than usual? Sonic was not one to dwell on much, but his thoughts were now often turning to his stubborn friend more and more.
Deciding to test the boundaries of just how intimate the red Guardian would let him get, Sonic tried something new during their next lustful tryst. After breaking a surprisingly gentle kiss, Sonic knew the echidna would probably expect him to either lie down on his back, or get down on all fours. Instead, he placed his left hand on his friend's chest, keeping him against the tree they were currently kissing against. At Knuckles' confused look, Sonic brought his right hand up between his legs, gently gripping the Guardian's arousal, while sliding his left hand down from Knuckles' chest, to his belly.
The echidna let in a sharp intake of breath at the surprise, and Sonic leaned forward pressing his lips to the white crescent on the Guardian's chest. Sonic kept his eyes on Knuckles own, as he gently kissed at the white fur, taking in the expression on the echidna's face. An expression he'd never seen on Knuckles' face before, even through all their moments of physical passion. A mix of confusion, but combined with something else. Curiosity? Or perhaps... anticipation?
