War, it never changes... I always thought it was clich\xe9. The borders, the toys, and who/what you are fighting for change for many of us.
It has been years since the War Academy. Years since dealing with the higher ups that kept us in the dark with 'need to know' orders. Years since being sent to back waters without any support when you pushed someones buttons or asked the wrong questions. Years since I went AWOL.
After living in the fringe of space, wormholes, it is a bit strange to come back in to the noise of k-space. Who would have thought that after all these years I'd fly with pilots who live by 'In Rust we Trust'.
No one knows where this war will take us but I know now that I was born to the wrong side of it and I damn well won't be dying there. They may not be my people, but I will come for them.
