A nickname of course, his real name is Logen. Logen acquired his nickname at birth when he came out all covered in embryonic fluid and blood, just like all newborns, except for the totally clean middle finger of his right hand. His Father noticed the bloody nine fingers and came up with the nickname on the spot. His Mother noticed the clean finger and wanted to name him Clean Onefinger. However, his Father knew that long nicknames will get shortened eventually and liked the sound of "The Bloody-Nine". He thought that "The Clean-One" sounded more like a reference to the boy's hygiene than a testimony to his interesting birth. You have to be realistic about things. Anyway, the name stuck and for the last fifty years Logen has been proudly showing his miraculous finger to any and all that he thinks deserves to see it. Which, considering his foul temperamant, is almost everyone he comes in contact with.
