Mercado grew up the daughter of a wealthy merchant in Egghelende. Growing up so close to the Amarr/Minmatar faction warzone gave her a first hand look at the brutality of war. She did not understand nor comprehend why anyone would do this to each other. She devoted herself to peace movements and diplomatic studies to see if she could affect any change in the current situation. This was all for naught. As she involved herself more closely with the warzone and, pushing for an ultimate end to the carnage, she befriended many Matari and discovered the truth of why they fought with wreckless abandon and almost insane devotion against Amarrian citizens. She was told of the atrocities and pain that was suffered by the Matari people at the hands of the Amarr. This outraged her so that she broke off all diplomatic ties with Amarr and sought to aid the Matari people in any way she could, without betraying her principle beliefs of a non-violent solution. To this day, she still works for peace.
