The Birtmat culture was founded on the Amarr home world before the empire entered space. Now spread throughout known space, the Birtmats do not fully embrace the concepts of the any empire under which it exists.
In the Birtmat culture, incest, family abuse, homosexuality, lesbism, murder, pornography, prostitution, and rape are all virtually unknown. It is normal to see families of five generations (and more than 100 members) living in one home.
How is this strong sense of family and community engendered?
When a birtmat girl is born; she is placed in the crib with a new-borne boy by her mother, who then walks out of her life. The boy's family names both children.
Even as small children and throughout their lives, they are considered and raised as hsband and wife. They eat, sleep, school, and even bathe together. Normally, their first child is born before their fifteenth birthday.
Zyxi's family and village was destroyed by Sansha raiders. Beware her fury.
