Here's a good story for the EvE Universe:
Back in Feb of 2014 I was browsing the market and came across a BPO of the Large Micro Jump Drive going for 3M ISK. Did a bit of research and couldn't find any info on it. Purchased it shortly after. Further research lead me to this being a unique item and if not one of a kind-pretty close to it. I took care transporting it back to my HQ and started researching it. A few days went by and I saw a few orders for the BPO on buy orders. Went looking through the forums and using google, I was still unable to find any reference to this BPO. Jackpot! A unique item. One of a kind. Collectors Item. Awesomesauce!! June 2014 after researching it I decided to sell it. Put it on contracts for 50b with a 200b buyout. Was offered 15b for it and I accepted that offer. 12h later CCP got involved and removed the BPO, Went back and fourth with the GM's and this is the end result http://imgur.com/m2AnW7x A one of a kind item in a one of a kind place.
