Darren Kessel was born into the Kessel family, a major shareholder of a small but profitable company within the CBD megacorporation, and was groomed for a life within the Executive caste within Caldari society. Though capable, life in meetings and behind computer terminals proved to be too tiresome for Darren and he applied, much to the dismay of his family, at the Academy of Applied Knowledge where he studied engineering.

Though in time an accomplished engineer, he discovered that his true love is spaceflight. He started a career within shipping companies within CBD, but his background and education made sure he could attain positions as a starship engineer or even a system traffic controller, but never at the helm of a ship.

But as the possibilities of Capsuleer technology became widespread knowlegde, Darren made one last decision that would change his life. He sold every single share in his trustfund to become a capsuleer, and would finally be able to touch the void.
