Smalt Kring was born on the surface of Ammold IV, so named because Kevin Arnold wrote down the name too quickly in cursive before giving it to the clerk at the Registry of Planets. At 17, Smalt consumed a heroic dose of Strong Mindflood. During his trance, his personal relationship with violence changed as he realized we were all just one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively.

After graduating Republic Military School, Smalt sought out Blue Republic. Their struggle against the Red Federation was a new thing altogether. Not corporate profit, nor age-old hatred bade them fight. Nor griefing, nor creeds. A devoted yet detached delight drove to this destruction in the darkness.

Their ferocity in assaults was not fueled by emotion, but by a love and respect of the violence among the stars. These two foes engage each other in endless conflict, not to destroy each other, but to glorify, exalt, and uplift combat.
