Bio
***New Player Low-Sec Primer***
1.
Keep Local Chat docked separate and unobstructed. KEEP IT VISIBLE!! It is your first source of intel.
2. Make Bookmarks if you plan on using a system a lot.
2a. Drift off the undock, straight out 200+ km or more without touching your mouse, Bookmark that spot as an undock
2b. Observation Bookmarks 200-350km off any point you regularly use, be it Belt, Gate or Station (make it 300km+ from your undock)
2c. Safe Bookmarks are anywhere you are off-grid with anything (after an anomaly despawns, it leaves empty space, use it). Remember, they're not safes if anyone but you knows about them!
3. When using Asteroid Belts, never warp to the belt once you have made an observation for it. Never enter the belt, stay above or below the plane of the belt by approximately 5000m (this will prevent you getting caught on 'roids)
3a. Opt for Ventures if you choose to mine in low, they are easier to manage. Orbit 'roid, pay attention to local/d-scan (see below) and warp to the next belt if you can't tank the rats. Use safes to refresh shields as necessary.
3b. If you are 'special' enough to be Barge Mining in low, align to your station and manually set your speed low enough to stay within range of the 'roids you're targeting (5-15m/s) without standing still. This will maximize your chances of escape if you're paying attention (see below). It is easier to achieve 80% velocity from a slowgo than a dead stop (80% velocity is when warp activates).
4. D-scan window should be kept up and pinned to your hud when in space, get familiar with it, it will refine the intel that local gives you. V+Clicking the Overview will scan the object clicked if within range (14.3AU at most), remember that you need to change the scan angle to target objects on the overview (else you'll end up burst scanning 180 or 360 degrees). You can also change the range increments between AU and KM as well as refining the range to select specific objects on the overview
5. Any unknown additions to local should be assumed hostile (even if they assert otherwise), if you're not combat-fitted, keep them off your grid if possible.
6. Fit for what you're planning on doing, don't put hauling mods on combat ships
