Born Mirrikh Ardeshir, Marius adopted his Latin name when he joined the Religious Reclaimers movement shortly after the death of his older brother. His surname, "Aquillius," is derived from the Latin "aquila," meaning eagle; this was a nickname given to him by his late brother when Marius first began his career as a pilot.
