Rana was born on a slave interim storage planet near the gallentean borderzone. Although she got some friends there, you can guess she had not the brightest childhood. When she was about 12, she and her mother were sold. Violently seperated from her father, both were brought on board of a slave transport ship. During the flight, a rebellion broke out, her mother and she were freed. The plan was to capture the transport ship and run to the gallentean border. Almost in freedom the ship was caught by the amarrian pursuers. Her mother sacreficed herself to launch Rana's escape pod which started right before the ship was destroyed.

After drifting in space for days her pod was found by Christopher Loss, a gallentean salesman. Christopher, shocked by Rana's story, offered her to come with him, so she could learn his trade and gain power. So that some day she can avenge her mother and find her father.
