A former engineer and test pilot for the Gallente Experimental Research Division, L4nce was cybernetically enhanced during surgery after surviving an explosion during testing of an experimental warp cannon.

L4nce lost a lot of his former knowledge after the accident and it is still speculated that this was deliberate to stop secrets leaking into the wrong hands, though the Corporation decided his cybernetic enhancements could benefit the cause, and so released him to start a 'normal life' of his own in EvE.
